The email about Daniel today said that he's not going to make it but they'll keep him comfortable. There are many things to be grateful for -- his excellent medical care, the attention to his changing needs, and his circles of family and friends -- many many people care for him and have been sending him supportive and loving thoughts.
It is nearly time now to turn our attention to his caregivers, heroic people who have accompanied him on his journey. Soon, their paths will diverge; his survivors will need to walk back toward light and life, and make sense of what it all means.
