Well, Daniel is still with us on this amazing roller coaster adventure. It was hard to interpret the last email about him, but apparently he's not entirely in hospice, from what I'm reading. He's "unresponsive" (which may mean he's in a coma), he's not as heavily sedated as he was, but he's being kept "comfortable" on a mild dose of morphine. His kidney's don't work right now, so he's received dialysis, and his immune system is in disrepair.
And one of the lines in the email was that we're all still hoping for a "miracle." I think the concept of "miracle" takes on new meaning at times like this. It sounds like at least several minor miracles have already happened and it remains to be seen whether there will be others. We all hope so.
