lonely earless man

Our sports fans in Boston are devoted to say the least. Football in January might make sense in San Diego, but it's asking a lot of fans to hold games here in January when the temperatures might plunge into the negative numbers. Fans will stand outside watching the game in the cold, in raging snowstorms, whatever it takes.

There's one fan who loves to shave his head and paint his whole head with the Patriots team logo. Last year, his wife was appalled that he was planning to go to a game in the cold and stand around for a few hours bare-headed (well, except for a layer of paint). She told him that if he didn't wear a hat, certain parts of his exposed body parts would fall off and she'd leave him, and he'd be a "lonely earless man."

I wore my hat today.
